A cryptocurrency wallet is a secure digital wallet used to store, send and receive digital currency such as Bitcoin. Most coins have an official wallet or some third purses. To use any crypto currency, you must use a cryptocurrency wallet.

What are the different types of cryptocurrency wallets?

There are many types of wallets available and what you choose depends on your personal needs. Basically, different wallets offer different things, such as more security, ease of use or convenience. Now I will list the most popular types of cryptocurrency wallets.

Office wallet

The desktop wallet must be downloaded to a specific laptop or computer and accessible only from this device. In general, they offer a good combination of safety and comfort. However, it is important to remember that if a hacker could remotely recover your device, they could access your wallet.

Mobile wallet

A mobile wallet is very similar to an office wallet because the wallet is downloaded directly to your device. Typically, you access your wallet by downloading a mobile application that allows you to spend your coins in a retail store by scanning a QR code.

Web or online wallet

A web wallet provides the utmost comfort when coins are sent to another person. However, they are least secure. This is because the wallet provider generally has complete control over it.

Paper wallet

Paper wallet is among the least appreciated crypto currency wallets. All you have to do is print your private and public keys on a piece of paper, and that’s it, your money is safe! This is because the keys are not connected to a server, so only physical paper is available. If you need to transfer money, just enter the keys in a software or web wallet, or even more easily scan the QR code you printed!

Hardware wallet

In terms of security, there is nothing better than a hardware wallet. This is a physical device whose sole purpose is to store your private and public encryption keys in the hardware. The device is never connected to the Internet unless you need to transfer money. However, you enter your PIN directly into the device so that an attacker can barely access your passwords.

How do you know which one to choose?

You must use the information above to help you choose the best cryptocurrency for you. At the end of the day, it’s a personal decision, depending on what you are looking for and the cryptocurrency that you use. In this sense, a number of questions should be asked before selecting a portfolio. Such as:

  • Do you need access to this wallet or is it used for a larger investment?
  • How many coins will you use?
  • Do you need to access your wallet on the go or use it only at home?

When you see the answers to these questions, you can find the best wallet for you. However, there are still some things you should think about that you should always keep in mind. Such as:

  • Security
  • Anonymity
  • User Experience
  • Reputation
